Forthcoming Netflix thriller Yeti has assembled its principal cast including an iconic British star.

Ray Winstone (The Gentlemen) will feature alongside Chris Pine (Wonder Woman), Sofia Boutella (Rebel Moon), and rising star Iona Bell in the upcoming film directed by a prominent horror filmmaker.

Director Michael Chaves is spearheading the project following his success helming The Nun, The Curse of La Llorona and the latest instalments in the Conjuring franchise.

Netflix has confirmed that filming on the production has recently commenced in Budapest, Hungary.

Peter Gaffney and Sean Tretta penned the screenplay, which follows a father and daughter stranded in the Alps being hunted by a mysterious creature, reports the Mirror.

An official synopsis states: “Yeti follows a father and daughter stranded in the Alps after an avalanche uncovers something primeval from the glacial ice.

“With no hope of rescue, the pair must fight to survive against a merciless predator that blends in with the snow.”

Completing the cast are Bill Milner, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Géza Röhrig, Christian Ochoa Lavernia, Ansu Kabia, and Amr Waked.

Leading actor Pine’s other significant recent credits include Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Don’t Worry Darling and his directorial debut Poolman.

Appearing with him is emerging talent Iona Bell as his on-screen daughter in one of her first significant acting roles.

She will next appear in the highly anticipated blockbuster The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, portraying Lou Lou. For supporting actor Winstone, Yeti is far from his first encounter with Netflix, having appeared in several of their recent smash hits.

He played Lord Bayford in the Millie Bobby Brown-fronted fantasy thriller Damsel and retired mobster Bobby Glass in Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy The Gentlemen.

Erik Feig and Jessica Switch are producing Yeti for PictureStart, alongside Dan Kagan, with Hans Ritter and Pine taking on the role of executive producer.

Netflix has assured that further updates on the film will be disclosed in the forthcoming months, so keep your eyes peeled.

Yeti does not yet have a release date.
