Legendary actor William Shatner, 94, has set the record straight on his health after it had been claimed he’d “shattered” his shoulder following a nasty horse-riding accident. Taking to Instagram to update his hundreds of thousands of followers, he penned next to a graphic of an injured shoulder: “So I understand that tabloids say my shoulder was shattered. Dramatic. Colorful. Completely untrue.” The Star Trek actor went on to explain: “It was a routine procedure. I’m so well that tomorrow I’ll be in Cleveland at a convention. Remember that tabloids don’t let facts get in the way of a good headline.”

Responding to the news in the comments section, one fan wrote: “Social media can be rather ghoulish. When you arrived at the Star Trek tour in Ticonderoga last summer, you were just like expected-enthusiastic, energetic, and a had a great story about the crazy flight to get there. And then, proceeded to give a tour (well over an hour) of the sets for us fans. Hell, I was exhausted just trying to keep up with you! Here’s to your continued happiness and long life!”

Another added: “I hadn’t seen anything to that effect, but I’m glad you’re OK, Bill.” A third echoed: “Thank you for telling us the real version. I read the part in the tabloids where they said ‘shattered. ‘ I wasn’t so sure, and was waiting to see when you posted us the correct details.”

Meanwhile, a fourth chimed in: “Thank you for correcting the record, Bill! I trust your version of reality over the tabloids! So happy your injury wasn’t as bad as they said it was!”

It comes after he opened up about a terrifying accident during an appearance at the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films on March 8.

“I ride the horses that can compete in equine skills, which is fast down and ends on a sliding stop,” he told Page Six. “And the horse that I owned, I came off.”

He expanded: “And she had a habit of going too far, like six inches to the side. And I’m riding it. And I’m ready. And she goes [too fast and sent him flying].”

William tried to soften the fall by rolling, but added: “I started to roll, but hit the dirt with my shoulder. So I wrecked my shoulder.”
