I made a small change to my cats’ food — the difference was amazing

I recently decided to stop using my usual cat food brand, Felix, and switch to one with a higher meat content. I have fed my cats Untamed before, which I absolutely loved and still buy the odd tin occasionally, but it is super expensive, especially for a multi-cat household. That’s when I came across Harringtons, easily accessible online and in certain stores, but also available to order directly from the website.

It’s a British pet food brand that makes natural, wholesome food for dogs and cats. It produces dry and wet food, including grain-free and balanced recipes. It focuses on good nutrition, sustainability, and value for money. After really researching what went into my current cat’s food, it was a no-brainer for me to try something new.

I don’t find it much more expensive than Felix, either, which was something I was worried about when researching other food brands.

It’s £16.50 for 40 pouches of wet food, compared to Felix’s Doubly Delicious, which is £15, so it’s only £1.50 more.

For that £1.50 extra, I’m getting better quality, more nutritious food for my kitties. Harringtons said: “At Harringtons, we believe in Making Mealtimes Meatier, that’s why each pouch is packed with freshly prepared meat and fish and nutritious animal protein.

“We only use natural ingredients and never add artificial colours or flavours, either, so sleep easy knowing you’ll be taking good care of them with Harringtons. No nonsense, just natural goodness for all.”

When looking at the ingredients, I noticed that Harringtons pouches contain 32% freshly prepared beef and chicken, compared to Felix’s 14%.

Cats are obligate carnivores, so they need as much meat as possible, and while some brands like Untamed and KatKin are even better for cats, they’re simply unaffordable for many pet owners.

I slowly transitioned my cats to avoid any upset stomachs, but they absolutely loved Harringtons despite its stronger smell. I also love the brand, and I can’t see myself switching anytime soon. Everything from the customer service to the packaging to the ingredients is everything you’d want in a cat food.

There are so many varieties to pick from, too, whether your feline friend prefers fish, poultry, jelly or gravy.

I also managed to get 25% off my order on the day, which took a box of 40 pouches to under £12.50, which is an absolute bargain. You can also sign up for repeat orders, which takes the cost down even further.

I don’t feel like I’m breaking the bank with Harringtons, but I know my cats are eating better quality food.

My felines are definitely more energetic and less hungry since ditching Felix, and I encourage other pet owners to look into what they’re actually feeding their pets.
