Taylor Swift Named 2025 Biggest-Selling Global Artist of the Year
The artist has been presented with the award six total times her career for her record-breaking streaming, physical, and digital sales
Taylor Swift is at the top of the IFPI Global Artist Chart for a fourth year in a row. The singer-songwriter has been named Biggest-Selling Global Artist of the Year 2025, an award recognizing her record-breaking accomplishments in streaming as well as physical and digital sales. It marks her sixth time receiving the honor.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry credits the release of Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and the documentary series The End of an Era with driving global engagement from fans. The record debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 in October 2025. It has spent a total of 12 weeks in the top slot, while singles “Opalite” and “The Fate of Ophelia” have made themselves at home on the Hot 100.
Swift also saw a boost in streams in 2025 after she regained control of her recorded music catalog six years after her old label, Big Machine Label Group, sold it to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings. For the first time in years, fans were able to listen to the non-Taylor’s Version recordings of her albums completely guilt-free. Reputation, in particular, saw a 1,184 percent increase in album sales and a 125 percent increase in streaming, equivalent to 34.75 million streams, when Swift broke the news.
Other artists who appear on IFPI’s Global Artist Chart 2025 include Stray Kids at Number Two, Drake at Number Three, the Weeknd at Number Four, and Bad Bunny at Number Five. Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, and Lady Gaga also appear on the chart. Still, Swift “has now won the award as many times as all other artists combined over the past ten years,” according to the IFPI.
The IFPI Global Single Chart and IFPI Global Album Chart for 2025 will be unveiled later this week.
