Marks and Spencer knitted jacket comes in four colours and is £38

As the days get lighter and the weather a bit milder, shoppers might be looking for the perfect transitional jacket to take them through to the next season. M&S might have just the style, with one happy customer calling the Air-Yarn Pocket Detail Knitted Jacket ‘gorgeous’ and ‘beautifully made’.

The chic jacket costs £38 and comes in four colours: light beige, black, mid grey and chilli (vibrant red), with sizes ranging from extra small to extra large. Made from ‘breathable air-yarn’, M&S says this makes it a ‘comfy choice’, particularly as the jacket has a bit of stretch to it. 

With a timeless boxy shape, two front pockets and a collared neckline, this is the kind of jacket that would go well with an office look, or dressed down with jeans and trainers. Either wear on its own, or layer with a heavier jacket on top – because cold days aren’t quite in the rear-view mirror yet.

It’s easy to care for, as buyers can wash it at home on a 40°C delicate wash and tumble dry at a low temperature. Made from 51% polyester, 41% acrylic, 5% wool and 3% elastane (exclusive of trimmings), customers who have bought the jacket says it fits true to size.

For an alternative, shoppers could look to the Brown Faux Suede Bubblehem Bomber Jacket, which costs £39.99 from New Look. This jacket would add an edge to any look, with its retro bomber style and faux suede fabric. 

Or there’s the Mango Wool Mix Funnel Neck Jacket in Tan, which costs £99.99 from ASOS. A pricier option, ASOS still has UK sizes from six to 14 in stock. 

The Air-Yarn Pocket Detail Knitted Jacket from M&S has garnered rave reviews from shoppers, with one writing in their review: “I bought this cardigan in beige. It is just gorgeous. Beautifully made, quite heavy weight. Wish they did it in more colours other than red or beige.” Luckily, the jacket is now sold in black and mid-grey too, for more options. 

Another said as part of their review: “Love this cardigan, it’s soft and cosy and warm. It’s sort of between a cardigan and a jacket in style and warmth.” While a third chimed in: “This jacket is really nice. Not too heavy, lovely and soft and great colour. Will be fabulous for going into spring.”

However, some customers had some more critical notes to share. One wrote: “Absolutely love this cardi / jacket. First one had to send back as had a hole in it. Second one was perfect. Looks great with jeans.” Another said: “Lovely jacket, very smart bought small because medium too big, will have to leave it open, still looks ok.”
