We’re known as a nation of dog lovers and new research has revealed just how devoted Brits really are to their furry friends.

Nearly 60% of owners said their dog had a nutrition and wellness routine similar to their own while 42% were more concerned about their pet’s health than theirs.

Meanwhile an astonishing 16% would give up a kidney for two extra years with their animal, according to the survey by pet supplement brand YuMOVE.

The results also revealed that 30% believe their dog gives them more unconditional love than anyone else in the family including children, who came in at 18%.

YuMOVE is celebrating puppy love this Valentine’s Day with a new guide to help keep dogs in the best condition.

The Petspan Blueprint, the first of its kind science backed guide designed to improve a dog’s ‘Petspan’ – has 25 easy-to-follow tips, helping owners identify small changes that can help dogs live better for longer.

The guide combines the latest veterinary research with clinical experience to offer practical, easy guidance for dog owners who would give anything for more happy years with their pet.

To promote the launch, YuMOVE has partnered with TV star and dog lover Vicky Pattison.

“My two dogs, Milo and Max, mean the world to me,” Vicky said. “They give me unconditional love every day, so I want to give them the healthiest, happiest lives possible.

“Until now, I’ve never had a guide that shows how small, everyday choices can really make a difference to their long-term health.

“The YuMOVE Petspan Blueprint is practical, realistic, and rooted in expert advice, and I’m excited to put it into action.”

Vicky is encouraging pet parents to make a Valentine’s Vow to their dogs to follow the guide and keep them in tip top condition.

Courtney Miller, Chief Innovation Officer and lead vet at YuMOVE, said: “For over 20 years, we’ve worked with vets and researchers to develop evidence-backed supplements. The Petspan Blueprint is about more than just how long dogs live – it’s about how well they live.

“It helps owners recognise where they’re already doing well, and where simple shifts could make a real difference. With the right care, our dogs can enjoy healthier, happier lives for as long as possible.”
