Store closures have been prevalent in recent years. And sadly, this time, it’s a store that many fashion fans are bound to miss dearly.

Quiz Clothing was founded in 1993 and it was a staple of the high street when I was growing up. However, the company recently announced it was closing its online shop. This has made many customers worry about how many of its stores will survive.

While I wasn’t keen on the bandage dresses and six-inch heels at Quiz when I was younger, the store really flourished in my early 20s. When I was working at Debenhams in 2019, Quiz had really taken off.

The clothes were seriously cute and influencers flocked there for shopping hauls.  I was hooked on the brand – from the skinny jeans popular in the 2010s to polka dot bodysuits that wouldn’t look out of place in the shops of today.

Quiz was fun, it was fresh, it was flamboyant in all the right ways. So, its presence on the British high-street would be seriously missed if it was to disappear!

After my shift at Debenhams, I’d find myself wandering over to Quiz to look at the clothing items.

There were so many designs to choose from – and they were very similar to what you could get from places like Pretty Little Thing, Missguided and more online.

But you could actually try it in real life, which made all the difference. While other retailers offer next-day delivery, you still run the risk of items turning up and looking nothing like the pictures.

That’s why shopping in real life is so much more valuable! There’s a far greater chance for you to find something you actually like.

Or maybe you could step out of your comfort zone and find something that you randomly adore? The opportunities in the changing rooms were endless.

This is the reason I believe there is one big problem with stores like Quiz closing. Where exactly will people be able to shop for clothing in-store?

In the end, waving goodbye to shops like Quiz is like swapping a lively street party for a silent scroll on your sofa.

Sure, online shopping is convenient, but it’s nothing compared to the thrill of finding hidden gems, trying things on, or bumping into a friend while you browse.

There’s only one way we can help to slow the decline of our British high-streets – and that’s shopping there more often! So next time you get the itch for some online shopping, put your phone down and consider popping out to the shops instead.

All you need to know about the Quiz collapse

Quiz fashion retailer has plunged into administration with 109 jobs set to be lost. The brand currently has 40 shops across the UK and the company admitted that it had experienced disappointing sales over the key Christmas period, further increasing the burden on its bottom line.

Last month, the outlet announced it was considering several options to secure its future following “disappointing” Christmas trading. Administrators Interpath said the chain’s 40 stores across the UK and seven concessions in Ireland will continue to trade while they look at options for the firm but its website will shut. They said 109 redundancies are being made across the firm’s head office in Glasgow and its warehouse and distribution centre in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.

Hundreds more jobs remain at risk in the company with around 565 people employed in total. Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, said: “With Quiz the latest retailer to fall into administration, there’s no doubt it’s been a tough start to 2026 for the UK high street. It’s our intention to continue to trade all stores and the concessions in Ireland as a going concern for as long as we can while we assess options for the business.”
