PlaqueBoyMax spoke with Rolling Stone as he got ready for the 2026 Grammys. The massively successful Twitch streamer talked about the moment he found out about his nomination for “Victory Lap,” the first time he heard Sabrina Carpenter ( “fire!”), and who he was looking forward to seeing the most last Sunday.

“It’s a blessing. It’s an honor,” said the artist when discussing his Grammy nod. “I was live on stream at my house in Los Angeles, and I was jumping around. I was just excited,” he recalled when discussing where he found out. “This is my first time going to the Grammys. I have not been to the Grammys before.”

The artist added that he wanted to meet Pharrell, likening the Grammy winner’s journey in the music and fashion industry to his own “very unique” career. “I look at someone like him, and I think it’s very inspiring. So, I want to maybe pick his brain if I have the opportunity to,” said PlaqueBoyMax.

He also joked how an “Uber driver tried gatekeeping Sabrina Carpenter.” Although he didn’t go into detail about the experience or what song he heard on the ride, PlaqueBoyMax said, “It was the first time I’m like, ‘Nah, this is fire,’ because I just heard it. I didn’t even know it was her.”

PlaqueBoyMax said he was looking forward to seeing Katseye, Leon Thomas, and Carpenter performing. “I am excited to see them, because I want to see … OK, now this is what it looks like, this is what it takes, this is how they do it.”

When discussing “Victory Lap,” PlaqueBoyMax said he did a stream with Fred Again, who made three beats during the stream, with one of them being plucked for the track. He said he did a stream with Skepta soon after, and then they all got on the phone to collaborate. “When Fred was making the beat, I had a feeling like … something special. It felt like a moment,” he said. “It’s crazy. It’s surreal.”

Before heading to the Grammys that night, PlaqueBoyMax hinted at what fans can expect from him next year. “I really want to take it there, give it my all. I really want to dedicate myself to the craft,” he said. “I mean, not only streaming, I’ve been doing streaming a while, but I really just started diving into music last year. So really just diving deeper in and just seeing how far I can take it.”
