‘Absolute masterpiece’ and ‘best movie ever’ airing on BBC today | Films | Entertainment
There’s no denying that this heartwarming film won over the nation when it premiered in 2017, and today it’s set to grace our screens once again on BBC.
Paddington 2 was a box office sensation, outshining its equally cherished predecessor and earning the label of “classic” from fans who can’t resist the charming escapades of the little Peruvian bear.
With Ben Whishaw lending his voice to the titular character, Paddington 2 sees our favourite bear face off against a new foe, Phoenix Buchanan, brought to life impeccably by Hugh Grant.
The sequel welcomes back all the beloved cast members, including Hugh Bonneville as Harry Brown, Sally Hawkins as his wife Mary, and their reliable Scottish housekeeper Mrs Bird, portrayed by Julie Walters.
The star-studded line-up also features familiar faces like Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, and Imelda Staunton as Paddington’s dear Aunt Lucy.
Brendan Gleeson joins the ensemble as one of Paddington’s fellow inmates – a surprising plot twist for those yet to see the film. Paddington 2 wasn’t just a commercial triumph, raking in an impressive $283.7 million at the box office, but it also received critical acclaim, boasting a near-perfect 99 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
