Tesco 

On Christmas Eve, Tesco supermarkets will be open to shoppers from 6 am until 7 pm, while Tesco Express stores will operate extended hours from 7 am through to 10 pm, providing customers with more flexibility for last-minute purchases. All Tesco locations will be closed on Christmas Day and will reopen as normal on Boxing Day.

Sainsbury’s 

Supermarkets will be open from 6 am to 7 pm on Christmas Eve, and convenience stores will be open from 6 am to 9 pm. A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said: “Head to our Sainsbury’s Store Locator. Simply search for your nearest store and click ‘Store details’ to find its opening hours.”

Asda

Asda will be extending its opening hours on Christmas Eve, opening its doors bright and early at 5 am and staying open until 7 pm, according to Secret London. Morrisons 

On Christmas Eve, opening hours can vary between branches, but the majority of Morrisons stores are likely to be open from 6 am to 6 pm. Shoppers are encouraged to use the store locator to check the specific hours of their local store.

Waitrose

A spokesperson from Waitrose confirmed that stores will close early on Christmas Eve. The supermarket urged customers to check their local branch for specific opening hours.

Marks and Spencer

M&S stores will welcome customers from 6 am to 7 pm on Christmas Eve; however, unlike many other retailers, they will remain closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reported Secret London. 

Co-op opening hours

Co-op superstores are expected to open at their regular hours, closing at 7 pm, while Co-op convenience stores will open earlier, between 6 am and 7 am, and close at 8 pm, depending on the location. Shoppers are advised to check the Co-op store finder for information about their local store.

Lidl

A spokesperson for Lidl has confirmed that stores will be open on Christmas Eve, with hours varying from shop to shop. Lidl urged customers to check their local store’s opening hours on the online store finder or through the Lidl Plus app. 

Aldi

On Christmas Eve, stores will close at 6 pm. An Aldi representative said, “Christmas opening times may vary. For times at your local store, visit ALDI UK Store Finder.”
