People in tears after learning why dogs are always happy | UK | News
There’s one thing you can rely on in life – your dog wagging its tail when you walk through the door after finishing a long day at work. It has got some owners wondering why dogs are “always happy”, wanting to bring this energy into their own lives in the New Year.
Answering this question, TikTok user StarTalks shared a video after speaking to astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson about this very subject. They said: “Ever wonder why your furry friend seems to radiate joy every time you walk through the door? If you’re a dog owner, you know the overwhelming excitement your pup displays upon your arrival.
“Whether you’re gone for a few hours or just a quick trip to the mailbox, your dog greets you with boundless enthusiasm, tail wagging and ready for some love! But why are dogs so consistently cheerful?
“Dogs have a different concept of time than we do. With one dog year equating to approximately seven human years, a 10-year-old dog is actually around 70 in human terms!
“As they age, their time on this planet becomes increasingly limited. This understanding might inform their joyful approach to life, encouraging them to make the most out of each day.
“So the next time you see your dog bouncing with joy, remember: they might just be living for today and embracing every moment.
“As the famous saying goes, ‘Be the person that your dog thinks you are.’ Let’s celebrate the simple happiness that our dogs bring to our lives!”
Commenting on the video, one user said: “As someone who struggles with depression, a dog is the absolute best animal to have. They’re so happy to exist and their energy is contagious. They’re the best.”
Another user added: “I love my dogs! I wish they lived as long as us!” A third user said: “This does happen with cats – when they are treated like family.”
One more user added: “I saw someone else explain this before and makes sense. Late night zoomies for dogs – it’s technically Friday or Saturday night to them. Also even if you are home all day the reason they take so many naps.”
A final user said: “My dog is happy when I come out of my room. He often chews my door frame off until I let him in to steal my bed.”
