Potatoes can be ‘peeled in seconds’ if you do 1 thing during prep

Peeling potatoes is the first step in creating your perfect roast potatoes, and no Sunday or Christmas dinner is complete without those. However, the process of peeling these potatoes can be timeconsuming, especially when cooking for a big group of people.

While the most common practice of peeling potatoes include a peeler or a knife to do the peeling, it might lead to your fingers or hands accidentally getting cut by the sharp blades, especially if your struggled to keep the potato steady in your hand. Now, one man claims to have found a better alternative to getting the peeling done.

Sidney Raz has made a name for himself on social media, boasting 4.6 million followers on TikTok, as he often makes videos of himself trying different life hacks of varying levels to see if they were worth adding into your daily routine.

In one video, he went on to try an alternative way which claimed to help you peel a potato even faster than simply using a peeler or a knife by still preventing your hands and fingers from getting cut, and the results left him gobsmacked.

“Here’s something I wish I’d known before I was in my thirties,” Sidney said at the start of his video before sharing the clip of the newest lifehack he’d come across.

In the video, a woman is seen standing by her kitchen counter peeling potatoes, but not in the way you’d might have expected.

Instead of holding the potato in one hand and the peeler in the other, she had inserted a fork into the top of the potato, which she held with her right hand while also leaning it onto the chopping board.

With her other hand, she held the peeler which she quickly moved up and down across the potato in order to remove the skin. She then slowly turned the potato with the fork in order to get all sides of the potato peeled.

“This is your annual reminder to peel smarter, not harder,” the overlay text of the video read.

The video then cut back to Sidney, now standing in his kitchen with a fork and peeler in his hand, as he went on to recreate the hack to see if it really worked as well as it looked.

“Have you ever seen a video on the internet that you don’t want to try because you know it’s gonna work so well? That’s what this is,” Sidney told his viewers, saying that the video had left him flabbergasted by how clever the hack was.

As he began to peel the potato, he quickly started to smile in disbelief by how well it was working. While it didn’t look as effortless as the woman had made it out to be, it still was clear that the method was way more efficiant that the traditional way of peeling a potato.

“My hands are safes, my fingies are safe,” he said as he finished peeling the potato, still in disbelief by how well it had worked.

Several viewers soon took to the comment to share their own thoughts, as many were just as baffled as Sidney.

“You say this AFTER i buy a potatoe peeler machine?!” one person wrote, while another user commented: “…. I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. I wish I knew this before adulthood.”

But not everyone was left impressed, as another viewer said: “Like unless the potato is hot, I don’t see the point of this. If you’re cutting your fingers off w/ the peeler, that means you aren’t being careful/going too fast. Just slow down & be careful. It’s not that hard.”
