One dog only has love to give, but hasn’t been given a chance to show it.

Nine-year-old Gizelle has been waiting for a home for six long years. She was taken in by animal welfare organisation Miracle’s Mission 425 days ago to try to gain new interest.

Sadly, the poor dog has only received three applications in all that time, but none of them worked out.

A statement reads: “Gizelle was pregnant and living in a garage. Her puppies were born but all died.

“She then acted as a surrogate for two orphaned street dog puppies and took care of them as her own. When they were weaned, she was rescued from the garage.

“She was extremely thin and weak. She has been waiting for a home for six years already in the shelter.”

Gizelle, who is currently in Egypt but searching for a home in the UK, is “very good with people and dogs”.

She has been successfully tested with older children, but cannot live with cats.

The statement adds: “After a hard life, we would really love to see her in a home for her final chapter.

“In the time she has been listed, she has had no less than three people apply, get approved to adopt her, and then pull out of the adoption process for various reasons.

“Family circumstances, a change of heart from the applicant about taking a senior, and lastly (most recently), second thoughts about Gizelle from a household member (not the main applicant who wanted her very much).”

It continues: “Gizelle is a dog-selective dog. She lives well with hundreds of dogs at the shelter, but she prefers to be with humans rather than dogs.

“She loves a fuss and would be content to spend her day snoozing at your feet and getting pets.

“She could live with another calm dog, but she doesn’t want high, energy or puppy energy around her. She sets boundaries with other dogs but has never attacked or harmed any in the shelter. She has clear and good communication skills.”

Commenting on her rehoming post, one Facebook user said: “Praying someone can give her love and a forever home for her senior years, good luck beautiful.”

Another added: “Hope she gets her forever home soon.” A third user said: “Darling Gizelle, shared in love and hope for you.”
