Benson Boone, Queen’s Brian May Reconnect at London Show
The Queen guitarist and “Beautiful Things” singer performed “Bohemian Rhapsody” as a surprise on Tuesday
During Benson Boone‘s stop at the O2 Arena for his American Heart World Tour, the singer surprised the London crowd on Tuesday by bringing out Brian May onstage for an encore performance of both “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Beautiful Things.” It’s a reconnection for the pair, who performed the Queen cover and Boone’s biggest hit at Coachella earlier this year.
Boone also shared a video of himself and the Queen guitarist doing the “What’s Up”-meets-“Beez in the Trap” mashup TikTok trend after their performance in London.
“Guess who’s back,” Boone simply captioned the social media post, which captured Boone emulating his best Linda Perry before May comes in with the “bitches ain’t shit and they ain’t say nothin’” line.
“I have no words,” Boone wrote on Instagram after they played Coachella in April. “You are easily one of the most legendary musicians of all time and I cannot thank you enough for coming out.”
At the time, May responded with his own post to the “truly golden 22-year-old prodigy,” writing, “I’m still reeling from last night at Coachella. Thanks to all of you folks who made it feel so special — you know who you are !!!!”
Boone is currently on the European leg of his tour, with stops scheduled in Germany, Belgium, France, Norway, and Sweden through mid-November.
Over the weekend, Boone canceled a show in Birmingham, England, over vocal and throat issues — an hour before it was scheduled to start. “I have tried everything I can to revive my voice, but I cannot give you the show I’d like to be able to give you with the condition of my throat right now,” he wrote. “This is genuinely the crappiest feeling, I am so sorry. I promise you I will do everything in my power to make it up to you.” He’s clearly better now.
