Netflix’s most popular original film not in English is getting a sequel – and it’s arriving sooner than you might expect.

Initially launched in 2022, Roar Uthaug’s spectacular Norwegian monster blockbuster Troll became a massive unexpected success for the streaming giant.

Garnering 103,000,000 views during its initial 91 days on the platform, it stands as Netflix‘s largest international triumph, surpassing recent sensations like Under Paris and Society of the Snow.

A follow-up was confirmed back in 2023 and enthusiasts finally have their first glimpse at the mayhem heading to screens in Troll 2, premiering Monday, 1st December.

Netflix‘s description for the gripping sequel reveals: “A new troll has awakened!

“Join Nora (played by Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen), and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) as they embark on their most dangerous adventure yet.

“With the clock ticking and chaos spreading, they’ll need new allies and ancient secrets to stop the rampage. Can they save Norway before it’s too late?”

An explosive new trailer has revealed the launch date and offered audiences a tantalising preview of the devastation ahead.

The opening footage begins at a ski resort when a colossal troll disrupts an evening of partying by literally raising the roof and grabbing tourists.

Things go from bad to worse when Nora is recruited by a secret organisation who are keeping one of the monsters, dubbed ‘Megatroll’, in captivity.

But when the beast breaks free and embarks on a murderous spree of vengeance, Nora and her colleagues must unite and take drastic action to protect thousands of innocent people.

Enthusiasts of the original movie are already buzzing with anticipation for this sequel and have flocked to social media to express their enthusiasm.

“WE ARE SO BACK!!!” one viewer declared in the YouTube comments. “I’ll always be the biggest fan of the first one, and I already know I’m gonna love the second one.”

Another person wrote: “So glad they’re doing another film of this! The first one was great fun.

“Norway has so many things to bounce off for inspiration and storytelling. As long as they [keep] pushing the storytelling and bring in mythology I think this could do quite well!”

A third added: “More kaiju troll madness! With a monster brawl too! Oh This is gonna be FUN!”

Are you eagerly awaiting more Troll chaos arriving on streaming this December?

Troll 2 will be released Monday, 1st December on Netflix.
