Shoppers praise £50 barn jacket that ‘looks expensive’

Barn jackets are trending at the moment, with fashion houses like Prada and Fendi featuring the casual classic on their catwalks. But while many of these designer coats can set you back hundreds of pounds, there are more affordable options on the high street, and New Look is offering one for just under £50. 

Made from 100% cotton and featuring a corduroy collar, the Contrast Collar Midi Barn Jacket is the ultimate autumn layering piece, reports the Liverpool Echo. It’s sturdy enough to withstand chillier weather, while its oversized relaxed fit can accommodate jumpers and cardigans underneath. It’s versatile enough to be worn with jeans and trainers, or a pair of boots for an edgier look. 

Available in sizes eight to 22, the jacket stops just under the hip, and comes with three practical pockets; two flap pockets at the bottom and one chest pocket. It closes with a zip concealed by a wind flap for a seamless finish, and the cuffs can be turned up to match the collar.

New Look shoppers are loving the jacket, giving it only five-star reviews since its launch. 

One fan commented on how it was “perfect for autumn”, adding: “Really love this jacket with a cosy autumnal feel. Perfect for the first of the chilly days, but roomy enough to wear a jumper underneath. So well made and stylish.”

A second review said: “Love, love, love my barn jacket, good fit, good length, love the cord collar and cuffs, I think it looks more expensive. So happy with my purchase.”

Another praised the jacket for its versatility, saying: “The jacket is lightly padded inside, meaning it is more than suitable for autumn and maybe even some winter days as there is plenty of room to layer underneath.”

However, several shoppers warned that the jacket fits quite big, with one advising to “size down unless you want an oversized look”.
