For many people, Cornwall evokes images of beautiful beaches and sunshine. It’s also home to breathtaking woodlands, making it an ideal destination for autumnal walks. One nature lover who regularly shares recommendations on TikTok has revealed her “favourite woodland walks.”

Posting on TikTok as @jesseatsandwalks, Jess often shares videos about her life in Cornwall, covering everything from foodie spots to coastal walks. In one video, she told her 18k followers: “It’s autumn in Cornwall, so here are my top five favourite woodland walks. There’s nothing better than going for a woodland walk when it’s crisp, sunny, a little bit cold.”

Below are the five walks Jess recommended:

Golitha Falls

Jess shared: “One of my favourites is Golitha Falls, and if you do the walk there, you can end up at Inky Smokehouse for the most amazing food.”

Natural England said: “The reserve is a long gorge, lined with ancient oak woodland that gives way to the River Fowey at the bottom.

“The site is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its woodland flora. The dramatic landscape created by the River Fowey is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

Golitha Falls is a nature reserve near Liskeard. The postcode for the car park is PL14 6RX.

Tehidy Woods

Jess explained: “Number two is the Tehidy Woods, and that one’s really good if it’s raining as well, cause it’s quite covered over and there’s a really nice cafe.”

Woodland Trust said: “The largest area of woodland in West Cornwall with over 9 miles of paths and 250 acres of peaceful woods and lakes to explore. Stroll around the lake, explore different areas of woodland or be immersed in the rich flora and fauna at any time of year.”

Tehidy Woods is near Camborne. The postcode for the car park is TR14 0EZ.

Kings Woods

Jess continued: “Number three is Kings Woods, which leads to the Pentewan Trail, which leads to Pentewan Beach, and once again there’s a really nice cafe and a pub.”

Discover St Austell said: “Kings Wood forms part of the remains of an ancient woodland, dating back more than 400 years. Originally owned by the realm, the Earl of Lancaster and the Forestry Commission, it’s now managed by The Woodland Trust.”

Kings Wood is in St Austell. There is a car park just off Pentewan Road (B3272).

Cardinham Woods

Jess said: “This one’s become a little bit more, I can’t think of the word… but it’s got a lot more busy and commercialised, but it’s still a really nice walk.”

Foresty England said: “Cardinham Woods is one of Cornwall’s hidden gems, rolling across the valley sides of a beautiful bubbling stream just 10 minutes outside bustling Bodmin. Discover iconic viewpoints, local wildlife, and a slice of unique Cornish history with the remnants of a former lead mine and an ancient clapper bridge.”

Ladock Woods

Jess concluded: “Number five is Ladock Woods, which is really, really pretty this time of year.”

TripAdvisor said: “A circular walk from the woodland of The Duchy to the Holy Well of St Ladock in the river valley where in 1802 a gold nugget was found that contained enough gold to make an elegant necklace which is now in Truro museum.”

Ladock Woods is in Truro. The postcode for the carpark is TR2 4NQ.
