This Martin Lewis-inspired £10 buy from B&M means I hardly need the heating
The winter months are coming and the weather is getting noticeably colder. At the same time, there is no real prospect of the cost of living easing up and people are looking for ways to keep warm without the central heating.
Thankfully, there are now more products than ever to help you do just that and it doesn’t always mean you have to splash out.
My recent buy was inspired by the advice of Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis to ‘heat the human, not the home’ and it does a belting job at keeping my body temperature up.
It’s basically a Heated Waist Wrap that keeps you warm at your core and the adjustable design means you can tailor the fit and heat distribution to your specific needs, with a Velcro fastening giving it a snug fit.
Costing just £10 from B&M, it’s powered with a USB lead, which you can either use with a nearby plug, or connect to a power bank to keep in the front pocket, which is also useful for keeping your hands warm.
I’ve been wearing it when working from home and haven’t had the central heating on at all yet. It’s also great for helping with back pain and period pain as the heat soothes those too.
It’s got three heat settings as well so you can alternate between low, medium and high, with the colour of the light on the power button indicating which one you’re using.
B&M’s Heated Waist Wrap is available in stores now.
If you’d rather have something without a lead at all, then there’s a similar product available from Online Home Shop. Adjustable Ribbed Hot Water Bottle Belts come in various colours and cost just £6. As the name suggests, the belts, with a soft ribbed fleece feel, include a hot water bottle that sits snugly against your body to help soothe aches and keep you warm. These can be ordered from the OHS website.
