When the wet British weather isn’t too wet, many people like to indulge in some outdoor exploration. For those who relish discovering new UK locations and enjoy scenic walks, one beauty spot has been labelled a must-visit.

This hidden gem was recently showcased on TikTok by travel and lifestyle account @placesandpillows, who revealed all that the location has to offer. The travel enthusiast and photographer advised: “Save this for your next day trip! Perfect for day out from Birmingham, for content shoots, or pretending you’re in Europe for the afternoon.”

The stunning spot is none other than Witley Court and Gardens in Worcester, near Birmingham. Nestled within 40 acres of land, it’s touted as the ideal spot for a tranquil walk with family, and dogs are welcome too.

Visitors can meander through winding woodlands, admire romantic ruins, bask in the beauty of the gardens, before reaching the dramatic ruins of the grand estate dating back to 1937.

English Heritage describes the site, saying: “With its immense ruined mansion, beautiful gardens, legendary fountain, acres of woodland trails and wilderness play area, there’s something for everyone at Witley Court.”

For history buffs keen to delve into the past of Witley Court, audio tours are available. Light refreshments can be enjoyed at the visitor centre, which also houses a gift shop.

After @placesandpillows likened the location to Italy, others were quick to share their thoughts. One user enthused: “Absolutely one of my favourites- you have to go.”

Another visitor commented: “I visited here few years back spectacular i can only imagine how amazing it must have been in it’s original days.”

While different individual suggested: “There are some great walks around the area, and don’t miss the Baroque Church.”

One more person wrote: “This is never a sentence I thought I’d hear. Actually very scenic though.

“My favourite holiday destination,” another insisted.

How to get there

It will take around 50 minutes to an hour to get to Witley Court and Gardens from Birmingham city centre if you are driving or travelling via taxis.

If you are travelling via train, you should head to Worcester Foregate Street or Droitwitch Spa. The later is generally recommended if you are planning on going to Witley Court. If you travel from Birmingham New Street it will take you just 45 minutes.

If you are travelling from outside of Birmingham via train, generally you will stop at Birmingham New Street first and need to catch another train to Worcester Foregate Street.

Once you book tickets, they are valid all day – and you can book online until midnight the day before to get discount. Likewise, you can buy a ticket online on the day, or when you arrive, but it will cost more.

For the full cost break down, visit the English Heritage website.
