New police footage has emerged from Morgan Wallen’s chair-throwing incident, showing the country star originally denying responsibility for the act to which he eventually pleaded guilty.

In April 2024, Wallen was arrested after throwing a chair off the sixth-story roof of Eric Church’s new bar and honky-tonk, Chief’s, in downtown Nashville. The chair landed on the street right next to a group of cops, and when the police started questioning bar staff, they immediately pointed the finger at Wallen.

The new body cam footage, shared by The Associated Press, shows Wallen being escorted out of the bar by the cops, one of whom asks, “What happened?” Wallen replies, “I don’t know.” A few moments later, someone off camera says, “He’s the one that threw the chair,” while another person insists Wallen had nothing to do with it.

Elsewhere, Wallen tells the police, “We’re not trying to cause no problems, man. I don’t know what they’re … I don’t know why.” When one officer tells Wallen they’re just trying to figure out what happens, the musician responds, “As you should.”

The footage also shows Wallen being cuffed and placed in a police cruiser. Cameras in the police car show Wallen again insisting on his innocence: “I ain’t done nothing wrong.”

Wallen was originally booked on three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor for disorderly conduct. He was later released on a $15,250 bond. A week after his arrest, Wallen released a statement owning up to the incident, saying, “I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.”

Last December, Wallen pleaded guilty to reduced misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment without a weapon. Wallen was given a two-year suspended sentence, except for “seven days incarceration in a DUI education center,” followed by two years of probation. If Wallen adheres to his probation, he can eventually expunge the convictions from his record.
