‘Blood-curdling’ war film with 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating streaming on Prime | Films | Entertainment

Fans of war films have been left in awe of one flick that came out this year, which is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. War movies are a popular genre that has stood the test of time, from WW2 classics to more modern interpretations of warfare. One of those films has been praised for its “masterpiece editing” and scenes that have left viewers on the edge of their seats.

Warfare was released in 2025 and stars Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn and Kit Connor, among a slew of other familiar faces. With a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 93%, it made an impression on both critics and audiences when it was released in April of this year. The film follows a platoon of Navy SEALs embarking on a dangerous mission in Ramadi, Iraq. With their brotherhood put to the test amid the chaos of war, we get told the story through their memories of intense events.

The story is presented in real-time, making for a tense minute-by-minute account of events that left fans both nervous and glued to their screens. And the reviews for Warfare are overwhelmingly positive.

Warfare was directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland and is based on Mendoza’s experiences during the Iraq War as a U.S. Navy SEAL. The script was based on Mendoza’s own recollections and those of his fellow platoon members.
