‘Entitled woman complained about my family on beach but I got the last laugh’
There’s nothing quite like a trip to the beach with your family, and as Brits start to dream of the possibility of a warm, sunny September, you may be planning a trip to the coastline over the weekends.
However, when one woman went to the beach with her family abroad, she was left seething after a stranger came and sat really close to them for no reason, and then proceeded to complain about what her child was doing.
She explained on Reddit that she was visiting her in-laws “in another European country,” and they decided to spend the day at the beach.
They were pleased, as “it wasn’t busy at all,” so they “chose a spot” and set up shop for the day. “Our four-year-old then started to do what four-year-olds do at the beach,” she explained.
“About 20 minutes in, a woman sets up super close to us, about 2 metres away. It’s weird because the beach is very empty, but whatever, we don’t own the space,” she said.
They went about their business for the day, until the random woman (who could’ve sat anywhere on the beach) made it incredibly clear that she wasn’t best pleased with the way the family was behaving.
She was “sighing loudly” and “pointing” at the family and their four-year-old. The Redditor fumed: “She takes a call and is complaining on the phone about us (we speak English to each other, but we know the local language)”.
The woman who was complaining said that the four-year-old was “too loud,” referring to the kid as a “brat,” the mum as “rude,” and she even said that “these foreigners are ruining the place”.
To embarrass the randomer, the family decided to “switch to the local language” to embarrass her, to show that they understood every single word she was saying on the phone to her friend.
She was “shocked” when she heard the local language, and then looked “sullen” when she realised that she’d messed up.
The woman decided to “move further along the beach” as she was obviously so embarrassed with what she’d said.
“No idea why she chose to put herself in that situation, guess some people enjoy having a reason to complain,” she seethed.
In the comments, someone backed the original poster, saying: “She clearly wanted to pick a fight or feel morally superior, and it backfired when you understood everything. It’s wild how some people intentionally put themselves in uncomfortable situations just so they can complain”.
Another penned: “It’s the beach version of ‘sit in the splash zone then complain about being wet.’ Manufactured outrage at its finest!”
“She thought you were tourists and wanted to intentionally ruin your day. Some people aren’t happy unless they’re making someone else miserable,” a Redditor seethed.
