An adorable dog who has spent most of her life crammed inside a bird cage is desperately searching for a new home.

Truly, a crossbreed, was rescued from a pet shop in Cairo, Egypt, in March last year – and has waited around 425 days for someone new to give her a second chance.

The four-year-old, who is ready to be adopted and is seeking a home anywhere in the UK, is currently under the care of Miracles Mission, who rehome abandoned animals.

They said: “We cannot believe that nobody seems to want poor Truly! Look how cute she is! Truly is almost five-years-old and living in an Egyptian shelter, but seeking a home in the UK.

“Truly was rescued from a pet shop in March 2024 where she was being kept in a small bird cage. She had no food and water. She could not even sit down in the cage and was constantly shaking and crying with fear.

“She was transferred to a shelter and has been there ever since. She is neutered and weighs around 8kg. She is a very calm and loving dog with a very sweet personality. She enjoys the company of other dogs and children. She loves to be cuddled.”

Truly needs an owner who can give her time to adjust and find her feet in a new setting – and who can teach her basic training and life skills.

Commenting on her rehoming appeal on Facebook, one user said: “I cannot believe this beautiful face hasn’t found a family to adopt her. There’s got to be someone out there who can give her a loving home, please people have a heart.”

Another user added: “She’s Gorgeous. Hope you find a good home soon.”

A third user said: “Poor dear little dog she looks so sweet. If I could I would ,but I have four foreign rescues. I do hope someone will come forward to offer a home for her.”

One more user added: “If only I could I honestly would. Current circumstances at home make it impossible but I pray she gets a lovely forever home.”

Miracle’s Mission, a registered UK charity, primarily operates in the UK, Borneo and Egypt, with the aim of safeguarding animals at risk.

According to the organisation: “Our mission is to provide a place of safety for animals in danger, to educate on the needs of neutering both pets and strays and to neuter stray dogs and cats to prevent the birth of more animals onto the streets.”
