‘Entitled’ neighbour sparks fury – ‘He thinks he controls parking!’

Residents on a quiet residential street were thrown into turmoil after a furious parking dispute erupted between neighbours, with one homeowner being branded “entitled” for allegedly trying to control public parking spaces. According to frustrated locals, the man in question has taken it upon himself to police where visitors leave their cars, even going as far as informing guests they are “not allowed” to park outside homes along the street.

His overbearing behaviour has reportedly created a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere for residents and their visitors alike. One neighbour, speaking out Reddit, claimed the man frequently sits on his porch, “staring” at his property, and has repeatedly confronted his guests over parking.

The situation escalated further when the neighbour began placing traffic cones along the curb to block off spaces, an act that many saw as an attempt to “reserve” the street for himself and his friends.

The feud reached a boiling point when the original poster captured footage of the man, during a rainstorm, placing a cone directly in front of his house to save a spot for a visiting friend.

Ironically, the original poster admitted to having once used a cone himself, during an urgent period when he needed quick access to his home for his disabled father’s hospital trips, an act that his neighbour quickly sabotaged by kicking the cone away.

“He thinks he’s entitled to reserve spots because his friends, who visit daily, need to park nearby,” the original poster explained, adding that neither he nor his neighbours have private driveways, meaning parking is a first-come, first-served situation.

Other Reddit users overwhelmingly sided with the original poster. Many pointed out that street parking is public and that no one has legal authority to reserve spaces without a permit.

“Move his cone and park there,” one commenter advised bluntly. “Meanwhile, talk to the right city department and find out the laws, and try to get a handicapped spot for your dad.”

Another added: “You BOTH know he can’t dictate who parks where on a public street. I’d park ON the cone just to make a point.”

However, not all the sympathy lay with the victim. Some users criticised both neighbours for using cones at all. “You don’t own the spots, either of you,” one person wrote.

“Stop using cones. I was on your side until you said you did the same thing, now you both just look immature.”
