Snow Tha Product, Yendry, Empress Of Lead
Ruidosa Fest is back for another year in New York City. On Tuesday, the annual festival celebrating Latin women artists announced its return for Aug. 9 at the Lincoln Center, featuring free sets from Snow tha Product, J Noa, Yendry, and Empress Of, among others.
The all-women lineup includes artists from across the Latin American diaspora: Snow tha Product is Mexican American, J Noa is Dominican, Yendry is Italian Dominican, and Empress Of is Honduran American. Chilean star MC Millarary, Dominican American star Pamé, and Argentinian singer Sofiâ Rei will round the rest of the day out.
“[It’s] a wonderful opportunity to promote and celebrate diverse female Latinx music in such a renowned and important cultural center,” said Francisca Valenzuela, one of the fest’s founders, in a press release. “There is not one Latinx identity, and there is not one way to be a woman or be successful.”
The event will kick off at 4 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. with a Silent Disco with DJ Tayhana at the Josie Robertson Plaza. The event will be part of the Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City series. Last year, Bebel Gilberto, the Brazilian bossa nova songwriter, and Buscabulla, who were featured on Bad Bunny’s “Andrea,” were among the performers.
“Today more than ever, it feels imperative to make noise in the U.S.—to recognize and acknowledge the value of diversity, inclusion, and international voices,” added Valenzuela.
In 2016, Valenzuela launched Ruidosa, a multi-level festival and feminist organization that encompasses live music, editorial content, and legislative initiatives championing the inclusivity of women and non-binary people in Latin American music. “This work is about consistency and building together, so we fight on,” she told Rolling Stone in 2023.
