Marks and Spencer is selling the perfect cardigan to see you through spring into summer. The Cotton Rich Open Stitch Cropped Cardigan costs £29.50 and is ideal for layering over camis, t-shirts and dresses for extra warmth. The cardi comes in four gorgeous colours – light natural, black, cappuccino and tomato – that can all be effortlessly paired with various other shades.

The cardigan is designed in a regular fit with a contemporary cropped length and features open stitches to create a gorgeous textured lacy look. It comes in sizes ranging from extra small to extra larger, however the tomato colourway is currently sold out in three sizes, highlighting its popularity. At the time of writing, the other three shades are still available in all sizes.

Ribbed trims give the cardigan a neat finish to the crew neck, cuffs and hem, while several small tonal buttons run down the front. The Cotton Rich Open Stitch Cropped Cardigan is part of the M&S Collection; easy-to-wear wardrobe staples that combine classic and contemporary styles.

Next is selling a similar Apricot Natural Button Through Crochet Cardigan priced at £40. This option comes in sizes eight to 18 and is crafted from a cotton blend with a V-neckline.

For shoppers who prefer a shorter sleeve, Roman’s Ivory Stitch Detail Knit Cardigan costs £30 and is available in sizes 10 to 20. This garment has an edge to edge opening, showing off the top worn underneath.

A dozen M&S shoppers have already snapped up and reviewed the Cotton Rich Open Stitch Cropped Cardigan. One delighted buyer awarded it five stars and said: “I chose the Cappuccino colour cardigan in small rather than medium and it fits perfectly. Will be great for summer evenings with wide leg trousers.”

“I love it,” wrote a second happy customer. “Texture is great. Lightweight for summer. The bright red tone is fabulous, will act as a cover up over my sleeveless shift dresses once warm enough to wear.”

A third commented: “Love this cardigan, wish I could afford more colours in it. Great colour, fantastic style, sizing good. Can be worn for dressy occasions but also casual.”

Another glowing review reads: “I saw this cardigan on an advertising board in the Belfast store. It took two weeks of searching and enquiring to find it eventually online. I absolutely love it, the colour (Cappuccino), the shortish length and the open weave. My daughter even borrowed it for a wedding. It is very slimming. I love cotton rich cardigans.”

They finished their review by saying the ‘sleeves are a tad long’, a sentiment shared by a few other M&S shoppers. Someone else had mixed feelings about the cardigan, as they explained: “Stylish summer weight cardigan. Lovely cardigan great for spring/summer. Would prefer higher cotton level and the buttons are very hard to fasten and unfasten, however I like the style and [have] two colours.”
