Having become the boss of DC Studios over at Warner Bros, James Gunn is helming the first movie in the rebooted DCU.

The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy director has cast David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, in a comic book universe where other superheroes already exist.

Now, almost 5 minutes of largely new footage has aired at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, with a closer look at a bloody and injured Superman.

Given Kal-El is basically invulnerable; so perhaps he’s been hit by some Kryptonite, as his trusty dog Krypto comes to his rescue.

After dragging him to some robots, Clark Kent is exposed to a great beam of light that fans will be hoping gets him back to full strength in the fight against Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor.

Warner Bros teased: “Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures. In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”

Superman hits cinemas on July 11, 2025.
