Actor Joseph Quinn has opened up about his personal hobbies amidst growing fascination with his off-screen life.

As he prepares to take on the role of George Harrison in an eagerly awaited Beatles biopic series alongside Paul Mescal as Sir Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Sir Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, the 31-year-old star of Gladiator II and Netflix’s smash hit Stranger Things confessed to L’Officiel his new passion for cold water plunges – though admitting it might be a bit “boring” for some to hear about.

Quinn admits: “I’m in that very irritating stage where I know a little bit about it, which is a dangerous thing, so I’m becoming slightly evangelical about it, and telling everyone to do it, which is quite annoying I imagine. Again, I’m no expert, but I have gotten up to a respectable amount of time in there. For myself, anyway.”

Beyond braving the chill, the actor also divulged his pastime challenges with gardening, mentioning the struggle against snails attacking his beloved hoya plant: “They are trying to disturb my peace of mind, but I will prevail. Over snail.”

Joseph has been in the spotlight not only for his professional achievements but also for his personal life. Rumours are rife that he is dating singer Doja Cat, according to the Daily Mail.

The couple was spotted together as recently as late-February in Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, confirming their relationship which became official last August, reports the Mirror US.

The actor’s fame is set to skyrocket with his casting as George Harrison. Director Sir Sam Mendes explained his decision to make four films instead of one, stating it would allow audiences to delve deeper into each character.

He felt the story “was too big for one film” and needed to be told in an epic manner for a new generation.

This new generation will get acquainted with two living and two deceased Beatles through these films which will be released nearly three decades after George Harrison’s death and over 45 years after John Lennon’s assassination.

As anticipation builds around the films, younger audiences are eager to learn more about the Beatles they haven’t had the chance to hear from. Earlier this year, those who knew Harrison reflected on his legacy, 24 years after his death from cancer in 2001.

George’s widow, Olivia Arias Harrison, shared with Mojo Magazine that while George didn’t practice his guitar enough, he was incredibly hard on himself and constantly strived to better his craft.

She described her initial encounter with George: “My first impression of George was that he was smaller than life. Very humble, normal and thoughtful. And very focused. He had such a strong core of self.

“He didn’t seem to be a frivolous person, although he was that. From the first day I met him he was working on music. He said he didn’t practise the guitar or sitar enough.

“He was pretty tough on himself. He said he wouldn’t play unless he was recording or writing, but actually he played all the time. He really did push himself.”
