Kieran Culkin revealed his four favourite films ever, including a film starring his older brother Macaulay – but it’s not Home Alone.

Culkin, 42, who won the Best Supporting Actor award at The Oscars earlier this month, was asked about his top pics during a red carpet interview with Letterboxed back in November.

The Succession star’s first choice was 1987 American fantasy adventure comedy film The Princess Bride, directed by Rob Reiner.

Adapted by William Goldman, who wrote the novel, it follows the adventures of a farmhand named Westley who rescues Princess Buttercup from the evil antagonist Humperdinck, the prince of Florin.

Howl’s Moving Castle, the sumptuous 2004 animated adventure directed celebrated auteur Hayao Miyazaki also made the list.

The film follows the protagonist Sophie as she seeks to break a spell which has turned her into an old lady, with the help of the wizard Howl and his friends Calcifer and Markl.

Next up on the actor’s list was “the greatest kids movie of all time, The Goonies”, he told the outlet.

The much-loved 1985 classic, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in January, follows a group of friends set off in search of pirate treasure to save their town.

A long-awaited sequel is officially in the works, with Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario producing, alongside director Chris Columbus, who wrote the script of the original.

Culkin said his final choice was a “toughie”, adding: “If you ask me on another day I might say something else, but I’m going to say, Uncle Buck.”

The heartwarming 1989 film, which starred the late great John Candy, followed the loveable commitment-phobe Buck Russell who has to look after his brother’s children during a family emergency.

Kieran’s older brother Maccaulay, best known for his performances in the Home Alone films stars as his nephew Miles, as Buck is forced to finally grow up and take responsibility.

Culkin won his first Academy Award for his role in A Real Pain a Jesse Eisenberg-directed drama which follows two cousins from the US who embark on a tour of the notorious Nazi deathcamp Auschwitz.

He also notably starred in the hit HBO series Succession as Roman Roy the arrogant, naive son of a media mogul, as he competes with his siblings to inherit his empire.
