A study has revealed that nostalgic parents are yearning for a return to their child-free clubbing days. The research indicates that 60% of mums and dads miss their late-night escapades at the club before they had children.

In an attempt to relive their youth, sentimental parents are playing old school favourite tunes with their kids. They’re also recreating the club experience in their own kitchens, with 67% of parents hitting the kitchen dance floor with their offspring.

There’s a growing demand for daytime clubbing events and family raves, with searches increasing by a staggering 53% since 2023 and the report reveals that 73% of families admit they have the most fun together when tearing up the dance floor.

Music from the past six decades features on a set list of tunes that parents miss the most. Topping the poll was the 1992 hit ‘Rhythm is a Dancer’ by SNAP!, which was on 28% of voters’ lists.

It was closely followed by ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ from 1976, voted for by 27%. DJ duo Daft Punk hold two spots in the top 10 with ‘One More Time’ in 6th place and ‘Get Lucky’ in 8th place.

The study was conducted by Holiday Villages, TUI’s popular family hotel brand, as part of its revamp of summer entertainment for the nation.

Holiday Village Ibiza is set to mark the last weekend of July as the official family opening weekender, featuring a special guest DJ act headlining the new Ibiza Sunsets night on 26th July.

The start of the school summer holiday season will be celebrated with the launch of new family rave nights and ‘Little Ravers’ events for under three year olds. A pair of pre-teens, known as Half Punk, will perform as the world’s newest tribute act, playing the top 20 family floor fillers voted for by the public.

Natalie Johnson, concept manager for Holiday Villages, said: “We’ve totally re-vamped our entertainment programme this summer,” adding that customer research indicated a demand for high energy themed nights.

She described the upcoming events as having a “They will have a pumped-up vibe, with vibrant staging and lighting, face paints, lots of neon and feature DJ sets, live performances and dance floor action at their heart.” She also revealed a new Little Ravers event at Holiday Villages’ creches.

“Half Punk is the perfect act to kick off the peak summer season and we’re delighted to reveal them to the world today, although they’ll be keeping their identities hidden… for now. We can’t wait to see them in action in Ibiza.”
