£11.25 ‘godsend’ Argos gadget that cools you down at night
Argos is selling a £11.25 gadget that could replace your electric fan, and it costs nothing to run at night. Staying cool at night during the hot summer Britain is having is something that many people are finding difficult. With a red weather warning in place for much of the country and temperatures soaring into the mid 30s, staying cool and comfortable when it comes to bedtime can feel like a losing battle.
Electric fans are a good solution, but even they have their downsides. Leaving them on all night adds to your electricity bill, and their motors can actually generate heat in the room you are trying to sleep in. There are several alternatives to electric fans, some more effective than others. Argos is currently selling on that cost just a little over a tenner, and it doesn’t require electricity to run while you sleep.
The Silentnight Restore Cooling Gel Pillow Pad is selling at Argos for just £11.25. It is designed to cool down the body at night using the unique gel, and it has received positive reviews from previous customers.
The product is currently reduced from £15 on Argos’ website. Several customers have left reviews of it under the product listing.
One reviewer shared: “I put it in the fridge for a couple of hours, it was really cool for about half an hour, then not much of a cool feeling. It is OK and helps with the heat.”
Another wrote: “Bought this for my cat to help her in the recent heatwave, and she loved it! (She’s not a chewer, and her claws are clipped, so it is safe.) It clearly really helped her cool down as she went from suffering without it to straight up chilling with it.”
“This has been a godsend during the hot weather we have had recently,” a third said.
According to Argos, you can place the pad inside your pillowcase on top of your regular pillow or lay it directly on top.
The product description reads: “The cool-to-touch gel filling provides cooling comfort without any fuss, making it ideal for menopausal night sweats or warm summer nights.
“The gel filling stays cool throughout the night, while the PVC cover keeps everything secure and wipe-clean simple. There’s no pillow flipping needed, so you’ll rest more comfortably without constant adjustments.”
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued the red alert this week, indicating that “a severe heatwave could have impacts beyond health and social care, with potential effects on transport systems, food, water, energy supplies and businesses, and indicates a risk to life for even the healthy population.”
